> HEDGE LAYING AND DRY STONE WALLING ATTRACT 80% FUNDING THROUGH BRITISH WOOL TRAINING

September 10th 2010

Farmers in Wales who enrol on Lantra Technical Award courses could be eligible for 80% of the cost to be covered by funding.

The cost-subsidised courses on hedge laying and dry stone walling are being organised by British Wool Training the training arm of the British Wool Marketing Board.

Diana Lavers of British Wool Training said the level of funding should make the courses very attractive to farmers keen to improve their skills base.

“As well as appealing to established farmers we hope the courses will attract younger people who are now providing such an important resource of skills for the rural environment. The two-day courses have a full cost is £120+ VAT – but this figure can be 80% funded for eligible applicants living in Wales,” said Diana who is based at the BWMB’s office in Newtown.
