British Wool celebrates working together at 67th AGM


British Wool held its Annual Conference and 67th Annual General Meeting on 8th November at the Mercure Hotel, Exeter, focusing on the benefits delivered by a refocused strategy.

Ian Buchanan, Chairman, said “British Wool’s strategy is based on one team, working together, to achieve a clearly defined set of objectives. This means positive leadership, an organisation which is open and transparent, and a highly skilled, expert management team.”

The event included a business update, Q&A and discussion groups inviting feedback on certain aspects of producer communications. British Wool Regional Representatives also received an update on the year to date performance including:


 *   An anticipated £900,000 (8%) saving in operating costs, supported by a robust operational efficiency plan.
 *   A new approach to productivity across the depot network, delivering a more efficient and cost effective service to producers.
 *   A focus on consumer marketing, designed to increase demand for British wool throughout the supply chain.

Joe Farren, CEO commented “This is an exciting time for British Wool. We are making great progress towards some challenging targets, which will ultimately mean we can deliver our most important objective – ensuring our producers get the best possible price for their wool.”
