Heading to Harrogate with Wool

It’s that time of year again - wool is in the air and the team at British Wool are heading to Harrogate to attend The Flooring Show where the wool carpet industry gather to promote all that is new and brilliant about their wool ranges.

The Wool Trends area is always a bright interlude at the show with leading wool carpet brands surrounding the Wool Trends installation.  As  always this is a visual taster of what is up and coming in both colours and texture - so please do make it part of your visit.

Surrounding the Wool Trends installation we have seven carpet brands and British Wool - which will be promoting WoolRetailer.com the online initiative to connect consumers with independent retailers in their locality.  It also provides education on the fibre to assist in marketing.   The new head of marketing for British Wool,  Graham Clark will be there to meet the retailers and talk about his new marketing plans and forthcoming consumer events to help raise the profile of British Wool flooring and furnishings in retail stores across the UK,

Adam Carpets is there too, with their particularly interesting partnership promotion with the stylish paint company Little Greene. Focusing on making the pairing of their Castlemead Twist and Fine Worcester Twist Collections a considered purchase for a room painted in Little Greene shades.  They have matched three paint shades with their product within their new brochure and it really offers a clever collaboration made in interior design heaven.

Ulster Carpets will introduce a new range at the event - Habitus - their  stylish new loop pile. This interesting collection has been inspired by the Danish influence which is still booming.  All four of the styles - Urban, Rustik, Croft and Strond lend understated simplicity with varying designs and textures.  New shades will also be aded to their axminster collection - Watercolours and the popular Open Spaces collection too.

Brockway Carpets are introducing three new wool ranges at Harrogate this year.   A wool twist range in two weights and 80/20 wool/polypropylene and two loops. One is a stripe, 3-ply pure wool and one a "chunky" loop in a 4-ply undyed pure wool. All to be unveiled at the show!

Additionally, Axminster Carpets, Cavalier Carpets and many other excellent wool brands are based in Hall C - call and visit and pick up a copy of the Homes & Gardens A to Z of Wool while you are there!

Wool Week - Gets Longer with Seven Days Plus

The annual dates for the Campaign for Wool’s Wool Week platform has been extended this year to cover two full weeks - it now runs from 7th to 21st October 2017.  This extension was to help the retailers that felt a week's too short for good promotions. Retailers wanting to engage can take advantage of the extra days to make the promotion work better for their window displays and special sales promotions. 

The Campaign for Wool was initiated by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2010 to help raise the profile of wool. This year there is a lot of activity going on with the support of British Wool,  which is hosting a consumer event at Grand Designs at the NEC (more of this next month) and there will be more flooring retailer participation across the UK.  Let us know of your planned activity for Wool Week so we can support it on social media.  If you want to get involved with Wool Week please contact marketing@britishwool.org.uk.
