Over 60% of the British wool clip is exported in an un-processed or semi-processed state (scoured or tops) to over 50 countries all over the world.

The major markets are Belgium/Luxembourg, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Japan.

A lot of this wool will be processed and turned into yarn or finished product and possibly re-exported. For instance, wool exported to China may be turned into Apparel yarn and then into sweaters. These would then be exported into Japan. Working on a technical and promotional level, we have successfully built relations with the following textile organisations around the world:

Since its launch in 2010, The Campaign for Wool has influenced a new demand for wool on an international scale, and it’s efforts have seen an outstanding threefold increase in the price farmers receive for their wool.
