registration

If you possess more than four adult sheep, the Wool Marketing Scheme requires you to register with the BWMB to market your fleece wool. Registration forms are available on application to the Producer Registration and Payments Department.

On application, the Department will also send you a booklet, 'Wool on the Farm', explaining the marketing system and advise you of the name of the wool depot authorised to handle your wool on behalf of the BWMB.

Completion of the registration form will provide the relevant information to raise payment for your wool and for your participation in the election of Board and Regional Committee members in your area.

After registration, you will receive an annual Price Schedule showing the prices payable for the different types and grades of wool during the coming season, a copy of the Board's Annual Report and Accounts, published in August, and, when appropriate, voting papers for Board and Regional Committee elections.

For you to be able to make full use of your vote in any elections, it is important that you provide comprehensive information about your wool producing activities, in particular any partners involved in your business.

When you apply for registration, you will be advised of the name of the wool depot authorised in your area to handle wool on the Wool Board's behalf.

The depots operate to take in wool from producers, grade it into recognised market grades and bulk it into conveniently-sized uniform lots for offering at auction. Depot staff will supply you with containers, string and labels before the shearing season begins; they will also supply you with delivery instructions and an advice of a despatch note.

When your wool has been delivered, the details will be passed to the Wool Board's Head Office for payment to be made.
