British Wool opens new Cornwall Intermediate Depot
British Wool are pleased to announce the opening of a new Intermediate Depot (ID) in Launceston, Cornwall.
The new ID is located on the premises of Glynn Marquand who is a beef and sheep farmer keeping mainly Scotch Mule sheep. Glynn also has a shearing contracting business covering Cornwall and the South West.
Adrian Prisk, Liskeard Depot Manager said, “As a depot we handle approximately 1 million kilos of wool from 1,500 producers covering the areas of Cornwall and South Devon. It is therefore essential we continue to provide our producers with a high level of service and the ID structure is an effective and efficient way of achieving this.
“Working together with Glynn, we identified Launceston as an area where producers would benefit from a new ID - producers can be assured of a high level of service getting their wool off farm ready to be graded, packed and tested before the wool is sold at one of British Wool’s auctions.”
Gareth Jones, Head of Producer Marketing added, “The benefit of the ID structure is it provides producers with an important service locally to deliver their wool. There is also the added benefit of no additional charge for producers who deliver their wool directly into their local ID. During these challenging times with the Covid-19 pandemic, British Wool, and our depots across the UK, are committed to ensuring a high level of service to all producers.”
Any producers wishing to make arrangements to deliver their wool to the new ID in Launceston should contact Glynn Marquand beforehand on 07772 547339.
In addition to the new ID, British Wool have a new haulier working across West Cornwall. Ollie Cross from Truro will be collecting wool and delivering directly to the Liskeard depot. For further information please contact the Liskeard depot on 01579 342422
