British Wool supports young talent in industry competition
British Wool is sponsoring Bradford Textile Society’s 2018/2019 Design Competition, supporting emerging industry talent throughout the UK.
The competition, which has been running for over 100 years, is one of the largest and most highly regarded textile design competitions in the UK. Textile and design students from across the country are invited to enter, showcasing their most creative and innovative approaches to modern textile design.
British Wool is sponsoring two categories this year. The British Wool Award for constructed textiles requires entrants to design a fashion or interiors fabric which demonstrates the versatility of British wool. Three prizes are available - £500 for 1st place, £300 for 2nd place and £200 for 3rd place. Certificates of commendation will also be awarded.
The British Wool Award for rug and carpet design requires entrants to design a carpet or rug of any construction using British wool, for residential or commercial use. The winning design will be manufactured and displayed at the Wool Carpet & Rug Awards 2019.
Haldi Kranich-Wood, Product Manager, said “We are delighted to work alongside Bradford Textile Society. This is a fantastic opportunity to share our passion for British wool, inspiring students to use this versatile and naturally beautiful fibre. Supporting our industry’s emerging talent is very important to us, and competitions like this are a great source of inspiration to textile students and designers, encouraging creative new thinking across the industry.”
