COVID-19 – Message from our CEO Joe Farren
I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well.
During this period of uncertainty, I would like to explain more about the approach we are taking to protect our employees, their families and our wider community, and also the plans we have put in place to allow us to operate during this difficult period.
British Wool has implemented several measures to ensure we remain fully operational, including the introduction of remote bidding at our auctions and a cross-functional training programme designed to ensure business continuity. These measures will ensure we continue to provide the highest levels of service in the weeks and months ahead across all functions within the business.
The health and well-being of our people is key to our business and we have taken steps to ensure that all head office staff can work remotely, as needs be. For our depot-based colleagues, all government guidelines and recommendations are being strictly adhered to so that we minimise the risk of the spread of the Covid-19 infection, while continuing to provide our core depot services to our customers.
We are also making plans for the coming season and are in contact with our drop off points and hauliers to ensure minimal disruption when the new season starts. As part of the plans for the new season we will be delivering wool sheets over the coming weeks. Please can you ensure social distancing is in place when our drivers deliver the sheets. If there is a different location where you would like us to drop the sheets to help us avoid contact please let your local depot know.
