Meet Scottish Regional Coordinator, Julie Brown
For fourteen years, until 2018, Julie worked in the Higher Education sector as an educational researcher. A change in direction occurred when Julie moved into the family dairy farm with her husband of 28 years and three children in April of 2018. Julie has now progressed into the sheep sector and works as the Scottish Regional Coordinator for British Wool, based in our Irvine depot, and is currently responsible for running the Scottish regional office. This role includes coordinating the sheep shearing training programme in Scotland, clerking Scottish Northern and Southern regional committees and promoting the work of British Wool.
Outside of work Julie helps out on the family dairy farm, she is keen home baker and when she has any spare time likes to travel, read, walk and spend time with family friends. Some interesting facts about Julie – she is a prize winning baker (local cattle show) and studied for two higher education degrees as a mature student and mother of three young children.
Julie enjoys all aspects of her job and in particular continuing in an educational capacity supporting people to reach their true potential and take available opportunities. She is currently learning all about sheep shearing and looks forward to gaining some hands on experience, in addition to meeting more people from this sector.
