Meet the Team – Laura Johnson
Tell us a bit about yourself…
I joined British Wool in October 2018 after graduating in 2017 from Harper Adams University in Shropshire. I studied Agri-business, where I gained knowledge not only from the business side of agriculture but also a range of practical experience on farm. Originally being from Suffolk, I had not had much livestock experience but was keen to learn, so helped out on friend’s farms in Wales and took on temporary jobs on farm during lambing season, as well as assisting on the university farm.
What is your role at British Wool?
As Producer Marketing Executive, I get involved in a range of areas, including; organising attendance at agricultural shows, competitions, campaigns and British Wool Farm social media. I am also secretary of the English Northern regional committee. Most of my time is spent at British Wool’s Head Office in Bradford but you will see me out and about at shows and auction marts throughout the year.
What projects are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on our next newsletter, which will be launched in October and you can see what the team has been up to since our last newsletter in April. We like to keep wool producers up to date, as our work goes much further than receiving wool off farm.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
In my short time in the business so far, I am thoroughly enjoying taking groups of producers on wool process tours, showing them exactly what we do here at British Wool and other areas of the supply chain and what we are working on to get them the best returns.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
At weekends (when the weather is kind to us), I like to go clay pigeon shooting.Back to Blogs
