Re-elected Board member for British Wool’s English Central Region
Richard Cottrill, who farms in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire, has been re-elected as British Wool’s English Central region board member for a further three year term, beginning on 1 April.
Representing the English Central region as a board member since 2015 Richard also represented Derbyshire on the Regional Committee for 13 years prior to this.
Farming in partnership with his brother and their families, Richard is a landowner and tenant sheep farmer who has farmed in the Derbyshire Peak District all his life. His farm runs over 2,000 ewes, including Swaledale, Dalesbred, Whiteface Woodland and North of England Mules, as well as 100 suckler cattle, over 7,500 acres.
Richard said “I’m delighted to have been re-elected as Board Member for the Central Region and I’m looking forward to continuing to represent producers. I will do my utmost to ensure that British Wool continues to give value for money to the producer and I will work hard to further ensure effective communication and understanding between British Wool and fellow farmers. British Wool is owned by all wool producers and is there to promote and sell British wool in the world markets. It will be an honour to continue representing and working on behalf of our farmers”.
During the last three years Richard has seen greater efficiencies at British Wool resulting in improved performance which benefits both the producer and consumer along with more effective communication using social media and modern technology. He is very keen to continue working on these areas on behalf of producers.
