Collecting, grading, promoting and selling great British fleece wool since 1950.
British Wool works on behalf of producers to maximise the returns received for their wool, adding value through grading, and minimising the risk of price volatility by selling wool on behalf of producers at auctions throughout the year.
Under The British Wool Marketing Board Scheme of 1950, British Wool is required to register all producers with four or more sheep (with the exception of Shetland, which has its own arrangement). There are currently approximately 40,000 registered producers, with day to day operations run from the headquarters in Bradford, and regional offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
British Wool is involved in all stages of the wool supply chain, and as a producers focused organisation, our main objective is to provide a high level of service to wool producers, maximising the value of their wool. Find out more about the services British Wool provides to the UK sheep sector.
