British Wool Board Members
The Board consists of nine non-executive regionally elected Board Members (elected on a rotational basis for an initial three year term with a maximum tenure of four terms), a Chief Executive, a Chief Financial Officer and two independent members appointed by the Government for a term of three years.
Trevor Richards - English Southern
Trevor joined the Board on 1st April 2011. He farms a mixed arable and sheep farm at Ashford in Kent, with 400 breeding sheep including Suffolk cross Mules and pure Romneys, selling all lamb through Ashford Market. Mr Richards is already very familiar with British Wool, having been actively involved as the regional committee representative for Kent for several years.

A graduate of Balliol College, Oxford in Modern Languages and English, Joe is also a qualified barrister. He spent the first part of his career in the City advising on company mergers and acquisitions. In 2004 Joe joined SIG Plc, the FTSE 250 Yorkshire headquartered multinational distributor of building and home improvement products, where he was Head of UK and Ireland Business Development. From 2013, he was a director with LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Bank. He is part of a farming family and Joe and his wife have farms in Yorkshire and Aberdeenshire.

Jim Robertson - Scottish Southern
Jim farms over 1700 acres of LFA in Langholm Dumfriesshire, running a flock of 950 South Country Cheviots and 50 Texel’s, along with 100 Galloway cows. Over the past few years, Jim has bought White bred Shorthorn bulls and also sells both blue grey and Galloway heifers and steers. Jim breeds his own female replacements, both sheep and cattle, then sells his pedigree Cheviot Rams at the annual SCC sale in October.

Richard Cottrill - English Central
Richard is a landowner and tenant sheep farmer who has farmed in the Derbyshire Peak District all his life with his family, running 2,000 plus ewes and 60 suckler cows over approximately 7,500 acres. As a traditional farmer, he is passionate about and committed to the industry. He was elected in 2015.

Carl Stephenson - English Northern
Carl farms 400 acres (mainly tenanted) of Severely Disadvantaged land in Teesdale, Durham. His farm runs Limousin and Beef Shorthorn suckler cows, along with Swaledale ewes (pure-bred and crossed), Bluefaced Leicesters and North of England Mule Ewes.

Alan Marshall - English South Western
Alan farms 500 acres in the LFA's of Devon in partnership with his son. He was able to grow the farm business from sheep contracting services, shearing, dipping and scanning and, latterly, as a British Wool Shearing Instructor. The farm keeps 100 cattle and 1200 Highlander ewes which are kept for the production of replacements and rams. Alan was elected in March 2016.

Donald Fraser - Scottish Northern
In partnership with his wife and son, Donald farms in the west of Inverness. His farm has 5,000 acres from 150 – 1,400 ft above sea level, running 250 pure cheviots, 600 cheviot mules and 200 suckler cows.

Huw Evans - Welsh Northern
In partnership with his wife, Huw farms two holdings in a Severely Disadvantaged Area in Rhyd-y-main, Dolgellau, running two self-contained flocks of Welsh Mountain ewes and a pedigree Welsh Black Cattle herd on land rising up to 2400 ft. Huw is past Chairman of the Welsh Mountain Sheep Society and has represented Merioneth on NFU Cymru's LFA Board since 2006.

John Davies - Welsh Southern
John runs a beef and sheep farm in partnership with his wife Audrey, and son Bleddyn. The family's flock of 700 sheep include Beulah, Tregaron Welsh and Aberfield X. John is a past chairman of Ceredigion NFU and currently a county representative on NFU Wales Rural Affairs Board.

Brendan Kelly – Northern Ireland
Farming in partnership with his two brothers, Brendan runs around 950 breeding ewes, including Mules and Romney’s, as well as 90 suckler cows on over 600 acres of grazing land. As well as being an active member of the UFU’s Beef and lamb committee, Brendan is also a member of the BISCA executive committee and a senior shearing judge as well as an advanced shearer in his own right.

Marko was appointed as Non-Executive Member on 1 February 2019, bringing considerable strategic, commercial and retail experience gained from various senior leadership roles at The LEGO Group. Marko was responsible for driving international growth across a number of continents, including Asia – a key target market for British Wool. For the last 5 ½ years he lived with his wife and two children in Singapore, returning to live in Marlow, Buckinghamshire early in 2019. Marko is a qualified rugby coach and avid fan of the sport, a property developer and co-owner of a pub and restaurant in Maidenhead.
