Overseas Markets

British wool has long been recognised for its superior quality, sustainability, and versatility, making it highly sought after in overseas markets.

While the UK remains our largest market, British wool is sold globally, with a strong presence in key international regions. To support our expansion, we have offices in China (Shanghai) and Japan (Yokohama). As well as partnerships with brands in the United States, South Korea, and across Europe.

Our international strategy focuses on strengthening relationships with existing partners. While driving new demand by encouraging more companies to incorporate British Wool into their products. Through collaboration and targeted outreach, we continue to expand our footprint in overseas markets. Ensuring that more businesses and consumers experience the benefits of high-quality, British-grown wool.

Japan

Has historically been a significant market for British Wool. Japan’s textile industry has long valued British wool for its durability and versatility. And widely used for high-end fashion, traditional garments, and home furnishings.

Although it has declined over the years, it remains vital. Our Japanese office, established over 30 years ago, continues to support this market. And the British Wool brand enjoys strong respect and recognition in Japan.

China

Our second-largest market, with 25-30% of our wool heading there, primarily for high-quality carpets and increasingly for the sleep sector.

China is one of the largest consumers of textiles in the world, and British Wool has made significant inroads into this dynamic market.

Our ongoing and new partnerships with Chinese textile companies help us maintain a strong presence and cater to the needs of this thriving market. With many using British wool for the first time.
