A stock supported collection of fine worsted spun yarn brought to you by a family owned business based in Saddleworth in the heart of the Pennine Hills. Our family name is derived from old English meaning ‘the shepherd’s valley’ – and we pride ourselves on our ability to combine 200 years of age-old techniques and experience in the wool industry with our passion for sustainable, renewable fibres.

To celebrate the natural qualities of British wool, our yarn range also includes natural undyed colours, spun using wool from naturally coloured British sheep breeds.

Care of the environment features strongly in our strategic planning, and we are selective in our supplier base by choosing to work only with companies that have a sound ecological footprint. When our partners dye our wool, they are fully compliant with EA Industrial Emissions Directive and are totally committed to ensuring no chemicals or dyestuffs used cause harm to the watercourse or atmosphere, and no AZO dyestuffs are used in the production of our yarns.
