Farmers yarn
Farmer’s Yarn supports early and small-scale businesses working with under 500kg of greasy British wool outside of British Wool’s grading depot network. Their role is to help fibre farmers, makers, designers and emerging brands develop products, knowledge and confidence before they are operating at volumes suited to working directly with British Wool. They do this through community, learning and visibility.
Farmers Yarn is not a certification scheme. It is a community of farmers, producers and makers who share a commitment to working carefully with fibre and supporting the future of British wool. Farmers, producers and textile brands who share these values can join the Farmer’s Yarn community by signing the Farmer’s Yarn promise and committing to transparent traceable wool supply chains.
Benefits include regular informal online gatherings where members can ask questions, share experiences and learn from one another. Access to online talks with farmers, makers and industry experts exploring topics such as sourcing wool, working with processors, product development and growing small fibre businesses. Members can be listed in the Farmer’s Yarn directory, helping customers, collaborators, and retailers discover businesses working with British wool. Members can use the Farmer’s Yarn digital and physical assets to communicate your connection to British wool and the wider Farmer’s Yarn network.
