Premium brand Fred Perry launches British wool collection

The iconic tennis brand Fred Perry, has launched 3 new styles of knitwear using British wool.

Triple Wimbledon champion Fred Perry founded the brand in 1952 when he first designed a pique tennis shirt, since then the Fred Perry products/style have become part of the British subcultural uniform.

Faye Waterfield, Brand Reporter at Fred Perry commented “We are proud to have three knitwear pieces made using British wool for our Q4 2021 collection: the Fair Isle Jumper, the Panelled Jumper and the Cable Knit Jumper.

Our Cable Knit Jumper is a chunky adaptation of our original tennis jumper. Before becoming a smart staple of the British subcultural uniform, our classic V-neck jumper was originally designed for warming up on the tennis court. The perfect frame for the collar and button placket of a shirt, the V-neck was also worn as a statement of classroom rebellion. Like their older siblings, the kids wore the Laurel Wreath to bend the rules, without breaking them.”

They concluded “The wool in all of the products is grown in the UK, the products are made in a new, state of the art factory in Haringey, North London. Truly British Products.”

Graham Clark, Director of Marketing at British Wool commented “We are delighted to have worked with such a prestigious brand as Fred Perry on this new exciting range of 100% British wool products. It is a great example of genuine British wool being used by a premium brand on the high street.”

The range is available through Fred Perry’s website www.fredperry.com
